This can be anything from a series of elevators that are linked in some manner or a bridge that’s connected to a strange tablet that players will have to puzzle out. The first area just gets players ready to work together, but after that point, We Were Here Together separates both players and yet wraps them in several puzzles they will have to work on simultaneously. The first puzzle is just a simple find the hidden object with several wheels, but after that, you’ll quickly have to work in parallel with your partner to figure out what you’ll have to do next and almost every puzzle will be extremely tedious if possible at all for a single player. The puzzles themselves vary from different things. Wandering through a couple of rooms at the little base quickly reveals a fragmented distress call from another member of the research team. Each player takes control of a nameless character swathed in either blue or orange cold-weather gear appropriate for the small arctic research facility in which the game opens. As with its predecessors, the core focus of We Were Here Together is collectively working through puzzle challenges with a partner online. Having learned from the other games, this highly atmospheric puzzler makes more of an effort to flesh out the dark backstory behind the adventure without necessarily getting in the way of the constant problem-solving. I’m already a sucker for spooky Antarctic tales Farm Togetherīut We Were Here Together definitely doesn’t disappoint. With the added complexity also comes a more in-depth story, though it’ll still mostly be told through subtle hints and background details rather than traditional cut-scenes and characters. On the other hand, if you’ve already played the other titles and are used to Total Mayhem Games’ puzzle-solving mindset, this new entry will probably feel like a natural evolution of the franchise. Bigger isn’t necessarily better, however, as it can often get very frustrating to keep track of all the clues and tools that you’re given during any specific puzzle. Itself is actually a lot longer this time around, with more expansive areas and multi-stage challenges that will require every possible ounce of teamwork to overcome. The latest of these, titled We Were Here Together, promises a much more elaborate experience, featuring larger levels, more complex puzzles and even a deeper narrative. The developers over at Total Mayhem Games are fully aware of this, having built themselves a franchise based on the idea of cooperating with others in order to solve intricate puzzles in an Antarctic setting. What’s new? For returning fans of the We Were Here series, this time you can expect even more puzzles, longer play time, new mechanics, and discover more of the story behind the Antarctic expedition and Castle Rock itself… From modern-day Escape Rooms all the way back to sharing a controller with a buddy as you both tried to escape the terrors of the Spencer Mansion, I think it’s safe to say that it’s always more fun to solve puzzles with a friend. Can you discover the truth behind the grim fate of the fallen citadel and make it out alive… or will the original inhabitants catch you on your way out?
